Kob translocated to Kidepo

The news that the Uganda Wildlife Authority is translocating Kob to Kidepo is exciting for me because my friends Pat and Lyn at Ngamoru have been calling for this to happen for many years.

The doubts about whether (Ugandan) kob ever belonged in this area have either been resolved, or the worry about the threat of oil production to game in Murchison have outweighed them. Even if they hybridize with the couple of white-eared kobs that have already been spotted in Kidepo, this should be good news for both the underfed lions and the safari tourists who get one more box to check on their species list.
